Opened in February 2024, the Maersk Ruakura Cold Store is a cutting-edge logistics facility located within the Ruakura Superhub in Hamilton. Covering 18,000 square metres, it marks Maersk’s largest infrastructure investment in New Zealand and serves as a strategic hub along the Auckland–Tauranga freight corridor, enabling seamless integration across rail, road, and sea transport. The facility features advanced sustainability technologies, including a transcritical CO₂ refrigeration system, rainwater harvesting, and a 1.52 MW rooftop solar array. In July 2025, it became the first cold storage site in New Zealand to receive a 6 Star Green Star NZ Design & As Built rating—the highest standard for environmental performance in commercial construction. This achievement highlights Maersk’s commitment to decarbonisation and innovation in supply chain logistics.
